Hope Hospice – Improving End of Life Care
Hope Hospice & Palliative Care Rhode Island has been serving Rhode Islanders for over 40 years. From our grassroots beginning, we have remained true to our mission—with deep compassion and skill, we care for people living with serious illness, those who are dying and all who care for them. Today, we care for more than 6,000 patients and their families each year throughout Rhode Island.
While most of our patients are cared for in their home, there are times when a hospice patient can no longer remain at home due to safety or comfort levels, or they may need intensive care for acute pain and symptom management. These patients are cared for at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, the only inpatient hospice facility in Rhode Island, where patients receive round-the-clock care in their private room.
Funding from the Champlin Foundation was instrumental in the construction of the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. Through Champlin Foundation’s support, families have access to a truly special place where individuals at the end of life can receive compassionate and respectful care and be surrounded by their loved ones.
Most recently, the Champlin Foundation provided the funds needed to equip each of the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center’s rooms with bedside charting capability. This highly impactful gift provides measurable clinical benefits by allowing real time charting at the point of care, while ensuring complete, accurate and timely communication between the doctors, nurses, the patient and their family.
